Animals, organic objects and components of the natural world have always been used as powerful metaphors in storytelling and mythology--symbolizing worldly ideas, fears, and passions. The works featured in Relics, Myths and Yarn are five contemporary examples of artists' incorporation of iconic subjects as anchors in story, myth or tale that derive from deeply personal experiences to a state of mind.

The exhibition will feature the work of Darla Jackson, John Karpinski, Matthew Neff, Tara O'Brien and Serena Perrone.

Press Release

Riverbank Arts

Sculpture: New Works/New Artists

September 1st, 2007 thru February, 2008

During the months of September through February, Riverbank Arts spotlight is on sculpture, new work and new artists. Sculptors new to our space are Todd Noe of Newtown, Pa., Catia Whitmore of Solebury, Pa., Garrett McFann from California, Ed Lynch from New York City, Justin Grant, Joshua Koffman, Darla Jackson and Julie McGeehan, all from Philadelphia, Pa. And work new to the gallery by Julia and Shane Stratton from Philadelphia, Pa.

This work finds many unique approaches to the sculpture medium as well as impeccable techniques. Todd Noe fabricates bronze to the tune of miniature tableau vivant. Darla Jackson uses material such as Ultracal, which is a gypsum cement. On exhibit are 3 sculptures from her new series which was on exhibit with the Center for Emerging Visual Artists fellows program in Philadelphia, Pa. Justin, Ed, Joshua and Julia represent a classical approach to their bronzes. Where Catia lends a whimsical view to the show. Also on exhibit are new equestrian bronzes by Shane Stratton and a resplendent peacock verdigris fountain by Julia Stratton. The show will run from September 1st thru September 30th.

Opened in 1994, Riverbank Art is located at 19 Bridge Street, Stockton, NJ. Featuring fine contemporary art and crafts. Over 300 artists represented. Also specializing in a large selection of unframed works, sculpture and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts alumni artists. Bridal registry available.

Gallery hours are Monday thru Wednesday noon - 5pm, Thursday thru Sunday 10am – 6pm, Friday and Saturday 11am – 7pm or by appointment. Closed Thanksgiving and Xmas Day.
